Issue 4 - Marketing Your Coaching Business

Welcome back!

Last time I explained how to set up your new coaching business. Now comes the real main ingredient of your business coaching business… the marketing.

Let’s talk about how you can attract clients, build your brand, and make your new coaching business a great one.

First things first, you need to get noticed online. Your online profile is the first impression potential clients will have, so make it a good one.

Start by creating a professional website. Think of this as your digital business card. It should be clean, easy to navigate, and packed with information about who you are and what you offer.

Potential clients should be able to find all the information on your website to be able to confirm that, “Yes, I need this coach!!!”?

It’s a good idea to add testimonials and a blog to show you're an expert at what you do and build your image as someone who can be trusted.

Next, you need SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). It might sound intimidating, but SEO is really just about making sure people can find you when they search, for example, “business coach near me” online.

Look into some basic SEO strategies like using relevant keywords, writing clear meta descriptions, and getting backlinks to your website to boost your search engine ranking.

Lastly, content is king. Constantly share content that would help potential clients like blog posts, articles, e-books, and videos. It'll really set you apart. Share your knowledge and advice so your audience can be convinced of how valuable you are.

Social media is the best, most cost-effective way to find an audience and generate leads.

Focus on where your potential clients will be. LinkedIn is great for business coaching, but don’t forget about Instagram and Facebook!

Become sort of a business coaching influencer by posting regularly. Share tips, advice, stats, updates, and even some behind-the-scenes snaps of your coaching business.?

Crucial tip: Never post and ghost! Always respond to comments, join and contribute to relevant groups, and start conversations in the DMs.

Build relationships!!!

If you can invest a bit, paid social media ads can help you reach a wider audience. You can target specific demographics, interests, and behaviours to find your ideal clients.

In my opinion, networking is, and always will be, one of the best ways to grow a business. Get out there and meet people!

Industry conferences, seminars, and workshops are great places to connect with potential clients and other professionals who can help your business.

Being part of professional organisations specific to business coaching can boost your credibility and offer awesome networking opportunities.?

Team up with other coaches or service providers that complement your business to expand your reach and offer more value.

For example, you could collaborate with a financial advisor to offer more well-rounded business coaching that covers both strategic planning and financial management.?

Once you have happy clients and partners, encourage them to refer new clients to you by starting a referral program.

Offer them something in return, like discounts on future services or free coaching sessions.

Alright, now it’s time to put these tips into action.

I challenge you to create a simple marketing strategy focusing on one or two main channels. Start by defining who your ideal clients are and what your goals are.

Choose the channels that fit your strengths and where your audience is most active.

Then, outline the steps you’ll take to build your online presence, engage on social media, and network effectively.

If you need help turning your marketing plan into reality, feel free to send me a message.?

Stay tuned for our next edition, where we’ll go into detail about how you can find and retain coaching clients!

?? Good day from Lismore, NSW. I have planned this trip for two years and will circumnavigate Australia in two CYBERTRUCKs for six months. Our journey is not just a physical one but a journey of discovery and connection. Starting at the end of September 2024, we will circumnavigate Australia in two CYBERTRUCKs for six months. This journey will cover 22,000 kilometres, and it's not just about the distance but about the impact we can make along the way. More to come! I did NLP with Chris Collinwood at NSW Uni from 2004 to 2008. I was the project manager and civil engineer. I worked as an engineer in Singapore from 1999 to 2005. We designed and constructed twelve-kilometre tunnels with two boring tunnel machines and five stations. I also managed 160 engineers and architects. I have been a contract engineer since 1975, Constructing sewage and water treatment plants from Melbourne to Cains and all of Asia. I have enjoyed every minute of my life. Kate's wife is a well-known interior designer, and Kate was introduced to Grand Design in Australia—the ideal partnership for 50 years of marriage of the year. ?? Cheers, Ian Cleland
