Issue 4 : June 2022

There's only one place we can start this month's newsletter...

KubeCon was back. People meeting people. Colleagues meeting colleagues for the first time. New projects being announced. And plenty of the Spanish sun was soaked up.

I've heard reports that Kubernetes adoption shows no sign of slowing down, more users are managing their own clusters and security is one of the most talked about topics.

I recently hosted a KubeCon recap event where everyone agreed that the next step should be Kubernetes maturity; a place where K8S isn't seen as the superstar in the stack, but a necessary that works amazingly in the background. See the link for more details.

The outcome of KubeCon Valencia? More of the same please ??

DevOps For Everyone

Following on from May's amazing guest line up we have another month of events you don't want to miss.

Kicking things off with a double header is the folks at ARMO

ARMO is bringing the future of developer-driven Kubernetes security, today.

Out of the gates first is Jonathan - VP Marketing & Business Development. Jonathan will be guiding us through the commercial success that ARMO has had since founding, we'll get to understand the process behind the hugely successful #Kubescape open source Kubernetes security solution and he'll walk us through the strategic pivot the business took AFTER they launched!

Following Jonathan is Amir - Vice President of Products. Amir will be demonstrating the flagship product, how it works and how it helps with Kubernetes security.

Rounding off the month of June is Dhiraj - Senior Cloud Engineer and Founder of Opsly. Dhiraj is a great example of a techie who understands the commercial side of cloud engineering, and on June 30th he'll give us a deep dive into Opsly and what he's built from ground up.

Vacancies

Besides the key take aways mentioned at top of the newsletter, the one thing every single company at KubeCon had it common was they're hiring.

  • Sent out swag?
  • Tried marketing the company?
  • Asked your employees for referrals?

The market is a fierce place for hiring managers and Founders and without a well thought out, strategic recruitment plan your business critical plans are going to be affected. No two ways about it.

Relying on contingent agency support might solve an immediate problem but will it just kick the can down the road? Are agency fees putting you off using external support that you know works?

InterQuest, like any decent agency, has evolved and offer several recruitment packages to suit every business need. So instead of putting off what you know needs doing, drop us a message to see how we're saving our clients ££ thousands ££ through tailored packages.

Sharing's Caring

If there's 1 lesson that we can learn from #KubeCon, it's that open source is the way to go for most. Following that theme InterQuest have compiled a market data report that includes the lessons we can learn from some of the world's fastest growing tech companies. By giving insights like this, our clients are able to lean on tried and tested methods and hopefully replicate the success of some of these scaling companies.

Get in touch if you'd like the report in full. Sharing is caring ??

Final Thoughts

I'd like to leave you with this...

Cost Optimization

Cost optimization is a term that has repeatedly come up in conversations lately and my feeling is that there's a serious need for devs to understand when they're being charged for an open cluster that they haven't touched in years!

Imagine receiving a bill for a couple thousand dollars for something you don't use ??

Laurent and I recorded a great podcast on this very topic in May, give it a listen.
