Issue #32 - TikTok Testing Visual Product Search
Welcome back! Another Friday is upon us and man is it a scorcher! I hope you're all putting on your suncream and drinking plenty of water or sun-appropriate drinks aka cocktails or mocktails. Both are just as good. Whilst you sip on your water, cocktail or mocktail this pleasant Friday, you can read this week's newsletter!

In todays' news, we see that YouTube has decided to lower its requirements for monetisation therefore making it that extra step easier to make money on the platform. Not only that but users can also now have access to certain partnership programmes. If you're like me and don't have a scooby about what the previous requirements were, well Digital Information World report that beforehand, the criteria was that "creators needed to have 1000 subscribers, thousands of watch hours, and even millions of views for their Shorts content." To me, that seems quite on the unlikely side for many creators. Not impossible however, YouTube should be attempting to help inspire and nurture the future of influencers on the platform. It's no surprise YouTube are deciding to do this as TikTok, what feels weekly, are creating programmes that are more accessible and show, to future comers, that they see potential. But the true question is, am I applicable? Well personally I'm not. I don't have a YouTube account and nor do I want one. What would I use it for? If I were to create one I could do readings of the newsletter! I could have my own little news desk! Anyway... back to the point. The new subscribers rate has gone down to half; sitting at 500 subscribers! Furthermore, "the watch hours is just 3000 in the last three months. Moreover, three uploads for creator videos must be done in the past three months and that appears to be the new policy". Like most new features and new policies, there will be a slow rollout. Starting in "US, South Korea, Canada, the United Kingdom, and also Taiwan." I have no doubt that this will prove popular therefore I can see this being rolled out further on in time.

Ai/ VR/MR/AR
Some impressive news this week from the Ai department. Within the newsletters, we usually focus on the big companies and what they're doing to shape the futuristic world. Well this time we're taking it a little less corporate. We're taking this story away from the big cities of the world and reporting from Devon. A new piece of Ai technology will be able to stop water pollution before it actually happens. Now this is the Ai I can get behind! So the question is, how will this be done? Nothing can predict the future can it? The BBC reports "Sensors placed in rivers and fields will build a picture of the state of local rivers, rainfall and soil." The project is only currently at pilot project level however I think its a brilliant step into using Ai resourcfully. A statement from Chief Sustainability Officer Mattie Yeta states "We'll give (the AI) the history. We'll give it all of the geographic information, as well as data sets from the sensors for it to learn and develop the predictive mechanisms to be able to inform where these incidents are occurring and indeed when they will take place." Most of us have seen how pollution can affect our rivers and seas therefore this project is one step closer to having those rivers and seas we *sea... buddum cha...* abroad. That is not a spelling mistake, that is my attempt at a joke.

Opinion of the week:
'Howard from The Big Bang Theory is the best character'
So as I've mentioned The Big Bang Theory, let's have an opinion based on it. As much as I love Amy in the fact she has the best character development, but Howard is just something else. He goes from being the weirdo of the group to becoming a loving father!
