EU member states have just AGREED on the latest CSDDD text

The European Union has taken a major step forward in holding corporations accountable for their impact on human rights and the environment with the approval of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). The CSDDD was approved by the Council of the European Union on Friday after initially being blocked in February.

The CSDDD will require large companies to take steps to identify and mitigate risks to human rights and the environment in their operations and supply chains. The legislation applies to EU-based companies with more than 1,000 employees and a turnover of €450 million, as well as non-EU companies that meet certain thresholds.

The CSDDD has been praised by human rights and environmental groups, who see it as a landmark shift in corporate accountability. The legislation is expected to come into force 20 days after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

Where We Are

  • Climes neutralised the 星展银行 foundED event in association with Headstart Network Foundation in Bombay on May 24th. Riya Sarda from the marketing team gave an insightful presentation on climate finance that sparked meaningful discussions among the attendees.??

  • Our key takeaway from the Argus Media Carbon conference which took place earlier this May is that if the projects are de-risked along the way, creating substantial Environmental-Social-Economic benefits for end beneficiaries, the “Bankability” of carbon-related investments can improve. The role of dMRV, Carbon Insurance & Government clarity on Corresponding Adjustments including NDCs remains critical in scaling the market from $1B to $50B in the next decade.

  • We're partnered with Varuna Group, a leading Indian logistics provider, to revolutionise sustainable logistics. Our innovative carbon footprint calculator will allow Varuna Group to measure and track their transportation emissions with increased transparency. These valuable insights will help them identify areas for environmental impact reduction and make data-driven decisions for a more sustainable supply chain.
