According to Tinder’s Future of Dating Report 2023, as the majority of its user base, 80% of Gen Z’ers believe self-care is a priority. And almost 75% believe that they find a potential match more attractive if they’re open to improving their mental health. They also prioritize values more than looks. Gen Z daters are also less likely to engage in dating games such as playing hard-to-get or giving mixed signals.
Men face tough competition on dating apps: 60% of users are male. Additionally, recent data shows that attractiveness is considered more important to women’s preferences. This is in comparison to intelligence or income levels. And on these apps, men need to establish an emotional connection within 24-48 hours after matching. So time is also a factor.
According to a study by an associate professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, female users of?xiangqin?or marriage-focused matchmaking platforms look for potential husbands who are financially viable. Male users, on the other hand, tend to look for potential wives who are good-looking. These users are also more direct in their approach versus dating app users.
