Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Patient and Family Advisory Councils: Advancing Best Practice in Children's Hospitals

This new open-access article from the team at IPFCC and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center summarizes practices that support and advance diverse membership in children's hospital PFACs and the involvement of patient and family advisors in organization-level DEI projects and initiatives. This work was funded by a grant from the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health, Palo Alto, California. Access the article here .

Nine Dimensions of Authentic Community Engagement

A new brief from the INSPIRE partnership lays out nine dimensions of authentic community engagement along with concrete practices that healthcare organizations can adopt to bring each dimension to life. Led by the Camden Coalition, the INSPIRE team consists of Commonwealth Care Alliance, Center to Advance Consumer Partnership, Community Catalyst, IPFCC, PFCCpartners, and multiple individuals with lived experience.

Engagement in Research: PCORI Releases New Foundational Expectaons for Partnership

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) has released an update of their Engagement Rubric. The Foundational Expectations for Partnership in Research are building blocks for meaningful, effective, and sustainable engagement with patients, communities, and other partners in research. IPFCC was part of the team from the American Institutes for Research (AIR) that led work to develop the Foundational Expectations.

Patient Advisors Engagement in the University of Miami (UMiami) Patient-Centered Facility Design Process

Patient voices shape University of Miami Health System’s new 160,000 square foot Doral facility using a patient-centered design process. UMiami is turning to their PFACs to make impactful choices at its facilities that will have a lasting impression on patients and families. Access the article here .
