Eleven months into a Labour government, how will a refreshed international education strategy work for universities in the UK, and in relation to our competitor nations? Where are the challenges that we will need to address, and how can we ensure a strong HE sector internationally for the long term?

Our expert panel will consider all these questions and delve into some potential answers and solutions.

Evidence in recent years has shown that the dominance of the traditional ‘anglophone’ recruiting countries has begun to shift, with students preferring intra-regional mobility, with the rise of new centres of power and influence in international education and with the growth of research ambitions in newer systems.

This session will bring together representatives from some of those nations to hear about their priorities and drivers, what trends they are responding to, and will ultimately consider what the UK can learn.

Universities have long been key players in soft power, but with the new government’s focus on economic growth and a broader foreign policy lens, their global role is evolving. Recent reviews by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) have explored these shifts in depth.

This session will reflect on the latest findings and hear directly from those involved, examining how universities can maximize their influence and impact on the world stage.

Register now for the opportunity to connect, collaborate and gain invaluable insights, be part of the conversation shaping the future of international higher education.
