Issue 10 - Measuring the Impact of Your Coaching Services
Welcome back!
If you've been following this newsletter series, you've likely been working hard to grow and scale your coaching business. Now, it’s time to take a step back and evaluate your progress.?
Just like any other business, understanding what’s working and what isn’t is crucial to sustaining growth.?
As a coach, you’re likely used to helping your clients set goals and track their progress. But how often do you apply the same principles to your own business?
Here are the best ways to assess what needs tweaking and how to keep moving forward in your coaching business.
Measuring the success of your coaching business starts with setting clear, measurable goals. Just like you help your clients set SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely), you should do the same for yourself.?
For example, instead of vaguely wanting to “improve client retention,” set a goal to increase client retention by 20% over the next six months.
Or if your goal is to grow your client base, aim to generate five new client referrals each quarter. These specific targets give you a clear direction and make it easier to gauge your progress.
Regularly tracking your progress against these goals is a must. It’s your GPS, showing you where you are, how far you’ve come, and where you need to adjust your course.?
Coaching is a two-way street. To be truly effective, both you and your client need to be actively involved. That’s why client feedback is so valuable. You need to understand how your coaching impacts them and where you can improve.
Never hesitate to ask for feedback. A quick survey after a session or a text can reveal what’s working and what you might need to tweak.
Does the client feel they’re hitting their goals? Do they feel supported? What could make their experience even better?

Plus, gathering feedback is also great for showcasing your success. In my experience, happy clients are always willing to give testimonials, which are great for attracting new clients.
These testimonials are proof of the impact you’re making and can help build trust with potential clients.
As you gather feedback and data, be ready to adjust your strategies to better fit your clients' needs.
Tweak coaching methods: If a certain approach isn’t resonating, don’t be afraid to switch things up. For example, if a client struggles with a certain task, try breaking it down into smaller steps.
Refine service offerings: If you notice a trend in what clients are struggling with, adjust your services to address those needs. For instance, if many clients ask for help with time management, you could create a specialised program just for that.
Shift target market: If your current market isn’t responding as well as you’d like, think about targeting a new niche. If you’ve been focusing on small business owners but see more interest from startups, it might be worth shifting your focus.
Now it’s time to put these ideas into practice. Set up a simple system to measure client satisfaction and the overall impact of your business. You can use a spreadsheet, CRM tool, or just a regular check-in routine.
If you need help setting up your system or have any questions, feel free to reach out.
Stay tuned for the next issue, where I’ll explore strategies for your ongoing development as a coach. Until then, keep evaluating, adjusting, and moving forward!
