ISRAEL VS PALESTINE

INTRODUCTION-

Israel & Palestine are the two very tiny nations situated in between the burning politics of the middle east. Isreal is the only Jewish nation in the world but what we know today as Israel was Palestine in the 1900s. With the British mandate coming into place after World War 1 and the Jewish population rising to nearly 30% of Palestine. This migration was further boosted after World War 2 and happening of the Jewish holocaust. leftover Jewish from all over the world started coming to their safe spot, Israel.

After World war 2, the UN was created and was posed with the major challenge of the Jewish population suffering. To counter that UN passed a resolution in 1947 which divided Palestine between the Jewish and the Arab. Jerusalem was handed over to international hands.

Israel was just 1-year-old when it had you fight a war with Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq but to the world's great relief Israel proved to be victorious and even expanded its territory. The other 1-year-old was leftover in just two concentrated areas on the west and the east which was after the war controlled by Egypt and Jordan respectively.

Isreal went through another two wars in 1967 & 1973, which it won and the middle eastern countries being defeated 3 times swerved a little from the holy land except for Palestine.

RISE OF PALESTINE LIBERATION ORGANISATION-

This organization carries out the struggle for the liberation of Palestine both through political and terror tactics. It was at its peak from 1970-the 80s carrying out several plane hijackings. In 1987 with continued neglect of the Palestinians PLO carried out its "1st INTIFIDA"(uprising) which resulted in the death of 100 jews and close to 1000 Palestinians.

HAMAS-

The big brother HAMAS was born which was similar to PLO but more radical, extremist, and nationalist in its nature. Under Its rule, the Oslo Accord of 1992 took place mediated by the USA which gave Palestinians control over the west bank and Gaza strip. But this silence could not be stalled for more. In 2000 "2nd INTIFIDA" took place till 2005 killing over 1000 jews and 3200 Palestinians which ultimately led to a drastic change in the nature of Israeli politics.

From 2006 onwards HAMAS became more influential with the ability to shape middle eastern decisions and gained complete control over the Gaza strip. disputes were bound to arise and so HAMAS launched rockets against Israel in 2008,2012,2014 and recently in 2021.

JERUSALEM ISSUE-

According to Israel Jerusalem is their capital. The core of this city consists of tons of sacred elements, not for just one but Muslims, Christians, Jewish, Armenians respectively. The city is the holiest city in the world and is the cause of the conflict between Israel and Palestine as Israel controls the city and restricts the entry of other communities to holy places.Let's see what are the claims of specific communities-

• JEWS-Temple Mount is said to be the holiest place in Judaism.
• MUSLIMS-The Temple Mount is considered to be the third holiest site in Islam - The first two being Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia. Here is where Muslims believe their Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven.
• CHRISTIANS-Christians also believe the site is significant to their faith. The Bible mentions this place to have been visited by various prophets and it was also said to be visited by Jesus according to the New Testament.

2021 CONFLICT-

German philosopher Karl Marx once said that "Religion is the opium of the people". And something similar is happening in the world right now. There is a war-like situation between Israel and Palestine at this moment.

The conflict between Israel and Palestine began in eastern Jerusalem on 7 May, killing 35 people and injuring hundreds. Hamas militants fired more than 100 rockets on Israel's Tel Aviv and many other cities recently. Israel responded to the rocket attack of Hamas by carrying out airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on its side. In this airstrike, a 13-story building was blown up by Israel. Also, with the "IRON DOME", Israel tackled almost 90% of the rockets fired by HAMAS, limiting the number of hostilities.

CONCLUSION-

One cannot predict anything sitting in a small room and typing this article that what will happen further in the future but there is concern that a "3rd INTIFIDA" could be fired and that tensions will escalate into large-scale violence leading to a full-fledged war between the conflicted areas.
