Isn’t it Time to Focus on You?

Isn’t it Time to Focus on You?

That question was the pitch to participate in the global Innov8rs Unconference on Careers, Personal Development and Wellbeing. A two-day, free event to take a step back, reflect and refocus in order to kickstart 2021 in the right way.

It was easy for me to say heck, yeah.

You see, I have an idea about personal development and career progression that I’ve always wanted to test drive with other innovators.

It’s pretty simple, really.

Innovators are naturally skilled at making change happen for others but when it comes to making change happen in our own lives, we often get stuck.

We’re expert at using tools such as ethnography, synthesis, brainstorming, and rapid prototyping to envision new products, services, and experiences but we rarely engage these tools when we want to disrupt the status quo and create a breakthrough for ourselves.

Even when

…we feel we’re no longer growing

…we dream of trying something completely different

…we’re presented with an opportunity to embrace a new challenge

Does any of this sound familiar?

Here’s why it might: We tend to resist change because it presents a threat to our sense of self. Who am I, if I am no longer in my current role? What will I become, if the new thing doesn’t work out?

And even if we avoid the threat story and are ready to begin exploring a new possibility, we fail to understand the true sources of personal fulfillment so they remain elusive in guiding our way forward.

On January 7 my goal is to improve your ability to always be discovering what’s possible. I will explain how to apply the familiar discovery-driven process for innovation to the evolution of your own career and I will also explain why it works.

This will be a stretch for a 50-minute session - but I’m game!

Whether innovation is in your title or it’s your passion, you shouldn't miss this. Join me and hundreds of innovation leaders from around the world by signing up at https://innov8rs.co/connect/.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Be well,

Laura
