This Isn't Facebook

Happy New Year! I wish you all the best for 2022.
I check LinkedIn a few times a day.?I like to see what’s going on in the business world, the latest updates about the local area, and most importantly, I enjoy the posts written by many of my connections. I've worked with many of these people. Some have become friends.
I’m often confused when people commend that LinkedIn “isn’t Facebook.”
I understand the surface argument. These are two different social media platforms. Facebook is a less formal and more personal type of social media platform. Linked is a professional network with business oriented themes.
However, I believe that LinkedIn and Facebook have much in common. They are used worldwide by millions of users, they connect people, and they are both proven effective social media platforms for businesses.
I know that people buy from people they trust. There is evidence to support this buying behaviour.
Relationship building and trust building are two of the key factors in sales. If you like and trust a person, you are more likely to buy from them.
Products don’t sell themselves. This is why we have advertising, marketing, communication, PR, and sales. And more specifically, sales people.

My network on Linked In isn’t a load of businesses and products. It’s people. A person who represents a business, item, or concept.
I WANT to know about these people. I’m invested in who they are, what they do, what they accomplish, and how they progress in this world. We learn from the world around us and from watching others.
If one of my connections fails in something they tried to do, and they want to share a lesson with me from their experience, I would like to learn the lesson too. I’m okay with experiencing some things through proxy.
If you are interested in dry and formal content- not to worry. There is still plenty of that on the internet.
As a reader, learner, and fellow businesswoman, I am excited to see what another human is doing. I want to know them. Knowing and liking that person is what leads you to 1. Learn about their product 2. Purchase it yourself and/or 2. Act as a referral for someone else who needs their product.
Ultimately, you are right. This isn’t Facebook. It’s an even better social media platform for growing your business. As long as you are using it the right way.
Sell Well,

3 年A social network for professionals to network, create conversation, learn and grow....we cant to that with brochureware. Todays most important concept for individuals business on Social is to create influence, to become the technical or commercial influencers in their sectors.....we cant do that with brochureware. Build digital communities, prospecting and networking within Social Media and driving internet responses on topics you wish the lead in.....we cant do that with Bruchureware. Those that comment with "this isn't Facebook" are being left behind while the rest of the world have moved on, they are losing relevance. They are choosing to spend energy battling for a set of rules that the platform owners don't support, when they could be spending that energy on working out how it all works, for their advantage. If they only realised that just opening their minds to how things are today, will help them with their goals
