iSMA IO: 5 tips that will save you a huge amount of time
The most important and not so obvious features that will save you a huge amount of time.
1. You can pre-commission any of the iSMA IO them using only your laptop and a mini USB cable. Just download the iSMA Configurator Free Software and you can then set up Modbus / BACnet, IP, Watchdog, Type of Universal Inputs, test the Digital Input and any sensors or update to the latest firmware. The module powers up via USB from your computer.
2. You get a free of charge Modbus IP to RS485 gateway: all our iSMA IP IO modules have also an RS485 port. You can then interrogate up to 127 Modbus RS485 using the IP port. All points are transparently mapped so there is no engineering time added.
3. Avoid any network issues by using the Belden 9842 RS485 cable. In the case that you use another cable, there may be network errors. In such case instead of lowering the baud rate, hoping to resolve it you actually need to increase the baud rate.
4. You are 100% safe due to the iSMA IO Watchdog function: in case of a failure either in the BMS controller or on the network between the BMS controller and the IO module, the Watchdog function will default on the all the DO and AO to a predetermined safe position, waiting for the controller connectivity to resume.
