Isikole School: Shaping Future Leaders Through Divergent Education

It has been now more than a year I met with Eveline Gomis & Jason D. through Repat Africa . We bounded through our passion for education and building the digital infrastructure. Last September 23rd, I went to visit ISIKOLE , a school they created along with fellow passionate friends, in 2020. They are into changing the status quo, any status quo. This is how they do it.

A Vision for Modern Education

The vision is clear: to redefine education for the 21st century. Doing so by developing creativity, critical thinking, and global citizenship. Isikole School's co-founders, all coming from diverse experiences and essentially from West African roots, have created a safe space where individuality as well as African and divergent perspectives can thrive for success.

By using a holistic child development approach through adaptive education, fostering self-discovery in a nurturing environment, the school focuses on guiding children aged 5 to 18 to acquire essential skills and knowledge, emphasizing innovation, trust, and excellence as core values.

Divergent Learning Experiences

Traditional education doesn't cut it anymore. Isikole School customises learning experiences, adapting to each student's unique strengths and interests.

But Isikole School goes further; it directly addresses the consequences of the French immigration laws and the integration traumas minorities and the working class experience.

Leveraging Technology

In today's digital age, technology is a powerful tool for learning. Isikole School integrates tech into classrooms, making learning engaging and interactive. Doing so by introducing students to apps such as Zoom , Adobe Photoshop, CapCut , ChatGPT , Asana , Google Workspace , etc.

In addition, a hybrid configuration allows students to learn from everywhere online, and for those who can be on-site, workshops organized in Paris provide a hands-on experience.

Global Perspectives

Located in the vibrant cultural hub of Paris, Isikole School exposes students to diverse worldviews, fostering open-mindedness and cultural appreciation.

In addition, deconstruction and transmission have key roles as the school was created through the experience and analysis of society and education systems from Afro-descendant societal realities standpoint. The idea is to break the dominated versus dominant relationship embedded in our societies.

Community Engagement

Isikole School isn't just a place for students; it's a community. Parents, teachers, organisations and students collaborate to create a supportive learning environment.
