Common questions:
Computer or paper testing?
Paper testing is ideal unless a student struggles significantly with handwriting. If so, computer-based testing would allow the use of a typed essay.?
Note: Some accommodations will allow students to take a paper test and type their essay.?
Which test dates?
We recommend reserving a November (fall season) and a backup December or January test (winter season).?Students can only test once per testing season.
How best to prepare?
Students need strong academic and test-taking skills to perform well on the ISEE. Neither one is enough. We recommend getting started early with a structured program that builds knowledge, confidence, and testing ability over time. Students should take targeted assessments that shine light on their current abilities and parents and tutors should use the assessment to develop an individualized plan based on the student’s abilities.?
Our philosophy?
The goal of any ISEE program is that students are well-prepared for middle and high school.?
We only work with families who want to build skills and knowledge that last beyond test day and who need an engaging program that builds confidence. It’s not about the test, but about the skills we develop along the way.?
It’s for this reason that, despite changing admissions testing requirements in the Bay Area, many families still complete some ISEE preparation with us as a way of developing skills and confidence that extend through middle and high school.?
ISEE Lower Level Assessment
We offer a complimentary mini-assessment here. This will be a good starting point for anyone considering or currently engaged in ISEE preparation.
