ISEA Joins the Global Solar Council – Advancing Solar Energy for Ireland

We are thrilled to announce that the Irish Solar Energy Association (ISEA) has joined the Global Solar Council (GSC) , a pivotal step forward in our mission to accelerate the deployment of solar energy in Ireland. This exciting partnership will connect ISEA and its members with a global network of solar organisations, providing access to new opportunities, insights, and advocacy platforms.

Why This Matters

As part of the Global Solar Council, ISEA will benefit from:

  • International Advocacy: The GSC represents the united voice of the global solar industry, advocating for policies that drive solar energy growth. This means that Ireland’s solar challenges and opportunities will now have a global stage.
  • Global Networking: Members gain access to a wide network of solar industry leaders, innovators, and policy-makers, helping to expand collaborations and influence.
  • Insights from Key Workstreams: The GSC is tackling critical issues like solar finance, grid modernisation, and skills development. By participating in these workstreams, ISEA will be able to draw on global expertise to help solve challenges in Ireland’s solar sector.

Shaping the Future Through GSC Workstreams

The Global Solar Council’s workstreams focus on some of the most pressing issues facing solar energy today:

  • Finance Workstream: Solar finance remains a challenge, especially in developing countries. The GSC is addressing this through the International Solar Finance Working Group, which will be launched at COP29. This group aims to reduce the cost of solar finance and create scalable solutions that support solar growth in every region.
  • Grid & Storage Workstream: The limitations of existing electrical grids can slow solar deployment. GSC’s efforts in this workstream advocate for modern, resilient grid solutions that integrate solar energy effectively, paving the way for faster solar project rollouts.
  • Skills Development: As the solar industry expands, a skilled workforce is essential. The GSC is working to create a global standard for solar PV training, ensuring that solar technicians worldwide are equipped to deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient solar energy projects.

Spotlight on COP29

The upcoming COP29 will feature key discussions led by the Global Solar Council, particularly around the creation of the International Solar Finance Working Group. This task force will focus on unlocking finance for solar projects in developing regions, a critical step in accelerating solar deployment globally. Ireland stands to benefit from the global insights and solutions that will be shared during this event.

A Global Collaboration for a Greener Future

Our membership in the Global Solar Council reinforces ISEA’s commitment to making solar energy a central pillar of Ireland’s energy transition. We look forward to leveraging this partnership to drive positive change and deliver results for our members and the wider solar community.
