Isaiah 5:11-17 The Woe of Binding Sin

Isaiah 5:11-17 The Woe of Binding Sin

DAY #14

ISAIAH 5:11-17

?

11 ?????? Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!

12 ?????? And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.

13 ?????? Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

14 ?????? Therefore hell has enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoices, shall descend into it.

15 ?????? And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:

16 ?????? But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.

17 ?????? Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.

?

Today we have people lost in what many call addictions. Addiction is the word that gives an excuse for their foolishness. ?It is a word that says I am sick, it is not my fault. The truth is that they have fallen to binding sin. Verse 11 mentions drunkenness. Yet, there are far more binding sins than just alcohol. Even naming them brings up darkness. Those who give into allow the sin that binds them to lead them, ignore the Living God who loves them. They party on into such a state, seeking only that sin that binds them making all else in life nothing to them. Numbing them of relationships to others and to that of God. They live life as if they are all that matters to themselves. But, we know better, their love of that sin is of more importance than their own lives.

Their knowledge of sin grows, while their knowledge of God lessens. They bury their guilt of hiding HIS love for them in their lusts for their own pleasure. The mighty, the great, the well known all live in captivity to that sin which they give permission to rule them.

BUT, the Lord has victory in them that seek Him! They are the lambs mentioned here. HE feeds them. He provides the pasture, and serves in the role of the good shepherd. Protecting HIS from attacks. These sheep feed on HIS Word. They know the voice of their shepherd. They follow HIS leading.

Be one of HIS sheep.

?

Dear Lord Jesus,

There is sadness, when one sheep wanders off. There is hope You will bring them back. We trust in You our Good Shepherd. We have difficulty grasping how others seek things that blind and deafen them to all that truly matters. Lord, use me. Help me to draw men unto YOU. Help me to share the love You have shown me. Help me to draw the lost back to Your love. Help me to show them it is not me but the love which You have shown me that enables me to call them to You.

In Jesus name, Amen.
