ISACA Data on Diversity Issues
With the continued dialogue on workforce diversity and gender-based pay gaps at recent tech gatherings, even to a fresh view in Dark Reading, we want to contribute data to the discussion. ISACA's 2018 State of Cybersecrurity research revealed issues related to the gender disparity in the tech workforce that, unfortunately, shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Most interesting is the difference in perception between men and women. An overall 31-point gap was found when it came to male and female perceptions of career advancement opportunities for women, compared to a 10-point gap for those with diversity programs in place within their organization. Additional ISACA research showed that a lack of mentors and role models are among the top barriers for women in tech. Rather than just cite stats, we’re focused on solutions. ISACA's SheLeadsTech program works to rectify this issue by connecting women looking for mentors and women looking to become mentors, something we witnessed firsthand at this year's North America CACS SheLeadsTech event.
