Isabel Marant: “My clothes attract both Lou Doillon and Kendall Jenner”.
Isabel Marant is one of the fashion designers who best embodies the essence of the French – read: Parisian – style nowadays. Since her debut in the industry back in 1994, she has always been faithful to the rules of her ideal woman, that she likes to define as one who “lives in Belleville, listens both to Shamir and Nina Hagen and would rather throw her own house party than go to a fancy club".
She started her fashion career designing knits for friends, inspired by the bilingual daughters of Serge Gainsbourg. Her business gradually became wider and wider and counts today shops in main cities worldwide, from Paris to Beijing.
Her clients go from French style icons as Caroline de Maigret and Louis Doillon to American tv personalities as Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian thanks to the variety of her offer: "In her collections you find the same products reworked every season. The smart it-piece, the affordable basics, the ethnic jacket and the menswear-inspired outerwear” explains Alice Litscher, professor of fashion communication at Paris' Institut Franc?ais de la Mode.
