IRS improving the taxpayer experience -- stopping unannounced visits to taxpayers.

Although the IRS seems like an outdated, super huge, and impersonal machine, they have been trying to get better and modernize.

One recent example that the IRS just publicized is regarding unannounced visits to taxpayers.

Up until this policy change, IRS revenue officers would visit homes and businesses to assist taxpayers in dealing with unpaid taxes and unfiled tax returns.

Effective immediately, the IRS said that unannounced visits will no longer take place, for the most part.

Meetings will be prefaced by letters, known as 725-B, that will be sent to taxpayers in advance to schedule said meetings.

This will provide the taxpayer with an overall better experience and the opportunity to feel more prepared and calmer.

This is great news for taxpayers and hopefully, the IRS will continue in the right direction.
