Irrigating our experimental field
Last winter was very wet and our clay fields in Lelystad in the Netherlands are soaked with water. One would expect that irrigation would not be required when planting the seeds for our field experiments. Yet, the last weeks were very dry and a thick crust has appeared on top preventing us to prepare successful planting circumstances for our experiments with fine seeds such as quinoa, onions and others. Thus, we have to irrigate the soil to make sure we have an effective experiment for our clients. Every year, circumstances are different and changing, requiring from our personnel to act accordingly. My compliments to them.
