Irony of Ironies
Antony Melvin
Associate Director Project Services Training, APAC at IQVIA Laboratories
The Sunday that just went by, my son and I were driving to my sister’s place for a Sunday family get-together and Adrian (Jr. Melvin), who certainly has an eye for detail, picked up this biker, who is transporting helmets but keenly observe he himself is not wearing a helmet.?
?Adrian quickly took this picture and started laughing and as he laughed said, OMG! from which planet are we ‘Dada’?
This picture and his question, set me thinking, from which planet are we? Is this what we always do and if we, are we doing it knowingly or with ignorance? ‘Ignorance is bliss, I know, but ignorance can also be life threatening.
Most often we are all like this, in the pursuit of saving others, we forget about our own-selves, I am not implying we need to be selfish, but we need to ensure if we are safe, we can save many a life. Self-preservation is important and that applies to our professional lives too, if we venture out, without equipping ourselves with the necessary tools and knowledge that we need to address the issues, challenges, and expectations of the clients, we will end up in a very bad place.
A simple picture but a very powerful message, of course there is a board too at the background of a clinic, but if anything could have happened to this young service person, he at least would have had a dermatologist rush for his emergency. ?
We are in the business of preserving life & increasing the quality of life, but in that pursuit, do not forget to wear your own helmet. – Melvin D Paul.
