With ABN, we continuously strive for innovative solutions to reduce costs in retail stores with pioneering developments and technologies. Retail stores mainly have ceiling-mounted 4-way cassettes installed that, without doubt, offer great advantages when it comes to easy installation. There are however quite some disadvantages to mention: low filter capacity as well as low filter efficiency in the area of air quality are a few of them. It is therefore not unusual for these 4-way cassettes to have them serviced four times a year, particularly in clothes stores.

This high maintenance cost is not the only part that needs to be taken into account when considering the total cost. In addition to this, maintenance of the installation means having service engineers on the road (remark the environmental effect, CO2). Not to forget the internal cost of efficiently scheduling service engineers and the inconvenience that a maintenance service brings along in retail environments.

IRONE?: from time-based maintenance to predictive maintenance

ABN Retail innovates with the development of the IRONE? concept, which can be described as advanced next generation and internet connected climate control for retail environment. Fully internet connected units gain insight in the health of climate systems, allowing to do predictive maintenance on high efficiency air filters. The IRONE? concept combines a one time a year filter replacement with higher filter efficiency to achieve improved air quality in a retail store.

Moreover, the design of this concept has been developed with regard to the ‘closing circle’ design, meaning that the IRONE? filter consists of only one type of material. In other words: sustainable filter design for easy recycling and upcycling.

The central Customer Care department of ABN monitors the condition or health index of climate systems to take action pro-actively and to easily schedule service engineers for filter replacement.
