Wren urban Nest has opened its doors with a pledge to keep things cool, whilst boasting a very hot interior! Prepare to nestle in for a night at Ireland’s most sustainable hotel in the heart of Dublin city centre, a cosy retreat that aims to deliver big, when it comes to protecting our planet.??With 137 rooms, this nine floor hotel is constructed using the most advanced sustainable technologies, eliminating the need for fossil fuels and allowing them to use 100% renewable electricity to achieve ‘Net Zero Carbon’ status,?and the first hotel in Ireland to comply with the World Green Building Council’s definition of ‘Net Zero Carbon’ without having to purchase carbon offsets.

Each room includes up to the minute green technologies and advances ensuring its commitment to the environment and also to guests looking for an incredibly silent nights’ slumber in their uber quiet rooms, complete with Respa mattress and remote controlled blackout blinds. Wren Urban Nest has taken a number of?‘Little Steps’?to fulfil their commitments to ‘Net Zero Carbon’ status and to create an overall ethical and sustainable hotel experience. The hotel sources all its ingredients and toiletries from local suppliers, including?The Handmade Soap Company,?Niks Tea, and?Contour Coffee.?Each room is supplied with complimentary water cartons from Irish supplier Cuilin, and stocked with ethically-sourced bathroom amenities in recycled packaging.

Sustainable items at Wren Urban Nest

Wren endeavours to not use any single use plastics and provides free chilled drinking water to its guests. The innovation in the creation and design of Wren Urban Nest allowed it to meet the World Green Building’s Council definition of ‘Net Zero Carbon’, making it one of the most sustainable hotels in the UK and Ireland. Wren’s embodied carbon associated with the building is approximately 50% lower per key than a typical hotel.

Director of Moran Hospitality and Hotel Operator, Tracey Moran said: “We couldn’t be more excited to have Wren Urban Nest open. Led by chef?Ronato Palmer from Johannesburg,?the?Wren kitchen?has no reliance on gas for cooking ensuring the zero carbon commitment is fully followed throughout the premises.?Ronato Palmer?is passionate about using the best local produce, and working in a way that has as low impact as possible, using only ingredients that are high quality, local, seasonal and ethically produced. Chefs at Wren are committed to responsible food sourcing and active use of ‘ugly fruit and wonky veg’ to prevent delicious and nutritious produce going to waste.?ALT Café Bar and Restaurant at Wren is stocked with the finest artisanal tipples, from Irish crafted whiskeys and pints to local micro session ales. The entire wine list is organic, with an emphasis on smaller distilleries for the spirits menu.?
