Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, the country's foreign minister, and other officials were found dead hours after their helicopter crashed in the northwest .

• Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced that First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber would serve as interim president.

The crash: President Raisi's helicopter lost contact about 30 minutes into the flight to Tabriz, prompting a massive search operation .

• The crash occurred as they were returning from a border visit with Azerbaijan. After hours of searching through mountainous terrain and bad weather, rescue teams found the wreckage, which was almost entirely destroyed and burned.?

Who is Raisi? Ebrahim Raisi, a hardline and religiously conservative politician, was elected president in 2021 after initially losing in 2017.?Raisi's career began at the Qom religious seminary at 15, and he quickly rose through the judiciary, becoming Tehran's prosecutor in 1989 .

• He played a role in the 1988 executions of political prisoners , leading to U.S. sanctions against him.

Is Israel behind the crash? Given the longstanding animosity between Iran and Israel, some Iranians speculate that Israeli involvement may have been there, particularly in light of recent escalations in the Gaza conflict, including the?assassination of an Iranian general in Damascus followed by Iran's retaliation.

• The Mossad, Israel's renowned intelligence agency, has a history of operations against Iranian interests, though direct targeting of a head of state would mark a significant escalation.

Pune minor who crashed his Porsche and killed two gets bail within 15 hours

Vedant Agarwal, the son of Vishal Agarwal, owner of the construction company ?Brahma Realty and Infrastructure, who killed two software engineers—Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa, has been granted bail within 15 hours of arrest.

• Meanwhile, the families of the victims who were killed in the car accident await fresh blocks of ice to receive the bodies of their children in proper condition.

The crash: The accident occurred around 3:15 am near Kalyani Nagar . The Porsche was reportedly going 200 km/h hit a bike driven by Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta. The driver tried to flee but was caught by locals after the airbags were deployed.

• The minor who was under 18 was underage for both driving and drinking and had been celebrating passing his Class 12 exams at a pub.

The shocking bail conditions: There was outrage as the court granted him bail within 15 hours and required him to write a 300-word essay and receive treatment for alcohol addiction.

Police book the father: Police have filed a case against the father of the 17-year-old Pune boy who killed two people while driving a Porsche at high speed under the influence. The pub that served the minor alcohol also faces charges under Sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act.

• Section 75 covers willful neglect of a child, with penalties of up to three years in jail and a ?1 lakh fine. Section 77 deals with supplying a child with alcohol or drugs, punishable by up to seven years in jail.

What does juvenile justice law say in India? In India, for juveniles aged 16–18 years involved in heinous offences (crimes with a minimum punishment of seven years of imprisonment), the Juvenile Justice Board can decide whether the case should be tried in a Children’s Court or a regular court.

• One of the most controversial cases involving a juvenile was the 2012 Delhi gang rape, where a minor was among the offenders. The juvenile was sentenced to three years in a reformation home, the maximum punishment permissible under the Juvenile Justice Act at the time following which the Juvenile Justice Act was amended in 2015.
