IQP Corporation acquired by GE Digital: code-free apps get even better

I’m very happy to announce that GE Digital has closed the acquisition of IQP Corporation and will integrate our code-free application development environment into its Predix platform for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Predix is the leading solution for connecting machines, data and people to power the digital industrial companies of the future. The code-free IQP solution will enhance the drag & drop capabilities of Predix Studio, Predix’s high productivity application development tool purpose-built for the Industrial IoT.

Predix Studio is a powerful tool for “citizen” developers to build apps, but IQP delivers a new advantage. IQP enables anyone, even people with little or no programming skills, to quickly build code-free applications by using pre-made design templates and easy drag & drop operation. The addition of IQP into Predix will greatly reduce the time, complexity and prototype cycle for IIoT application development.

This new functionality in Predix Studio will enable non-coders to create their own Industrial IoT applications, greatly expanding the ecosystem of Predix users. Predix customers will benefit from faster commercialization of new applications and the ability to create additional value for Industrial customers. IQP customers can gain the best-in-class capabilities of GE’s Predix, paired with the easy-to-use IQP application builder. 

This acquisition is a huge milestone in IQP’s journey. We developed the concept of code-free apps six years ago to connect sensors and enterprise apps. IQP was ahead of its time in that sense; initially the market was not ready to accept the idea of code-free development. Many companies were in early adoption phases of IoT and still entrenched in the belief that traditional programming was the only way to go.

Today, the increasing demand for applications, coupled with a time-consuming development process, is creating major IT bottlenecks in many organizations. Companies are realizing that when you go code-free, and open app development to non-coders, you save time, money and can begin to clearly see demonstrated ROI on your IoT/IIoT investment. 

I feel really good about IQP’s future with GE Digital.
