On Aug. 16, iQIYI premiered its original stand-up comedy show, The King of Stand-up Comedy. Initiated by the iconic Hong Kong film star and director, Stephen CHOW, the show features 44 groups of comedians competing for the title of ‘King of Comedy.’ Over six rounds, participants showcase their creativity and adaptability, highlighting their unique comedic talents. Following its release, the show quickly gained popularity in the comedy variety genre, reaching a content popularity index of 8,700 and sparked widespread social media discussions. It also topped iQIYI’s variety show chart in overseas markets, including the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
Building on iQIYI’s previous success in the comedy genre with the hit variety show IP Super Sketch Show, this latest addition, with its innovative content and distinctive format, aims to support aspiring comedians while entertaining audiences, setting a new benchmark for Chinese stand-up comedy.

On Aug. 30, iQIYI earned four prestigious nominations as the 29th Busan International Film Festival unveiled the nominees for the 2024 Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards. iQIYI-presented productions Imperfect Victim and To the Wonder have both been nominated for Best Asian Contents, recognized for their innovative storytelling that has captivated global audiences.
Furthermore, Xun ZHOU, the lead actress in Imperfect Victim, is nominated for Best Lead Actor (Female), while Congcong TENG and Yining PENG, screenwriters of To the Wonder, are up for Best Writer.
These nominations further highlight iQIYI’s growing reputation for delivering premium content.
