From October 28 to 30, Tech Innovation 2024 gathered visionary leaders and innovators at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore for a focused discussion and network building towards “Sustainable Urban Living.”
Organized by IPI Singapore, the event explored transformative solutions in #urbandevelopment, #foodsustainability, and #healthcare, which was an opportune moment for us at ipse ipsa ipsum to engage with industry leaders and innovators in Sustainable Urban Design and Development.
Paving the Way for Future Forward Cities
Among the event's highlight was the focus on “Future Forward Cities”. It kicked-off with an insightful keynote by Yoon Young Kim, Cluster President of Singapore and Brunei at Schneider Electric. He explored the transition towards sustainable energy systems to enhance efficiency and reduce emissions, which closely resonated with our vision for the No-Use to Re-Use Innovation Lab that augments our partners’ green journey through end-to-end solutions for repurposing waste, from prototype development to scaling commercial supply chains.
Following this, a panel discussion featuring experts like Calvin Chung, Assistant CEO, Engineering & Operations of JTC Corporation, Lim Ke-vin, Head of Group Innovation at City Developments Limited, Lester Leong, Co-founder & Group CEO of Gush,? and Singh Intrachooto of Kasetsart University, explored Technology as an Enabler for Smart Cities. They discussed how digital innovation and data-driven solutions are essential for creating efficient and resilient urban spaces.?
Our No-Use to Re-Use Innovation Lab’s ?collection for the built environment shares the same approach, encouraging collaborations across industries by working with designers, architects, scientists, and AI experts to bring emerging tech innovation and methodologies into our design process.?

Exploring Innovations Exhibits
The event also served as an opportunity to explore exhibits and discover technologies that could significantly augment our sustainable design vision. Among the standout were eco-friendly leather made from upcycled agricultural wastes (cocoa pod shells, mangosteen peels, and durian fiber) by Up Cycling Engku Co., LTD? and a polystyrene replacement created using organic materials, both developed by companies from #Thailand.
We were also particularly intrigued by a fungus-based adhesive created by professor Javier Gomez Fernandez of Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)--a great example of how #biotechnology can contribute to innovative material development.?
Additionally, a cutting-edge glaucoma treatment technology from ?O-Oley Care,? a Hong Kong-based company showed leaps in healthcare innovation, while an advanced smart bed solution from a Chinese university illustrated new frontiers in sustainable design and wellness.
It was inspiring to witness how these technologies and innovation at the Tech Innovation 2024 are potent tools and inspiration for ipse ipsa ipsum’s sustainability goals. We look forward to exploring future synergies toward innovative and eco-conscious design for sustainable urban living.
