iPhone 13 – ‘Dum Maro Dum’
The Year 1971. My Father was probably just passing out of school and about to enter college. The song ‘Dum Maro Dum’ – a revolutionary song of the time. The youth had just caught the fancy of ‘hippy’ cult and they were singing about freedom, smoking pot and what not to show that they are freedom lovers. Mesmerizing them was none other than the famous Zeenat Aman.
Fast forward 50 years. The Year 2021. The song ‘ Dum Maro Dum’ makes waves again – this time not just in India, but globally.
Apple launched iPhone 13 with soundtrack of ‘Dum Maro Dum’ – the initial tune was played right at the beginning of the launch followed by tune of the song ‘Work All day’ by Footsie. Just imagine! The ‘Dum Maro Dum’ tune was played during the Apple launch event – launch of iPhone 13 when the Company’s CEO Tom Cook arrived to preset the product line up at the Auditorium of Apple Headquarters.?

Zeenat Aman must be feeling absolutely nostalgic. And so are we – all of us Bollywood fans. No one, leave alone Zeenat Aman must have never imagined that the song would find relevance 50 years ahead. Only this time Zeenat Aman is replaced in the launch advertisement by a delivery boy, fighting odds to reach his customers. The song was originally sung by none other than the legendary Singer Asha Bhonsale, composed by an equally, if not greater legend R.D. Burman.?Clearly someone just could not forget the tune even after 50 years and fitted it superbly into the launch of iPhone 13. Wow ! What a nostalgic moment.
In one go, the launch has the attention of all of us in India besides the entire globe. iPhone 13 sales should surely shoot up in India. India market is definitely serious business.?Apple launch is always awesome anyways.
Now the point is – would the company give iPhone 13 to their delivery boys? Well, with ‘Dum Maro Dum’ anything is possible.?
