IPEC Certification Bureau - ISO/IEC 17024 Certification Schemes

Hello everyone. In this edition, I’m going to share on the certifications we have that are in line with the framework of ISO/IEC 17024. For your information, there is a wide range of industry scopes. We can add multiple certification schemes within one business scope.

Some of the industry scopes are:

1.      Beauty Science

2.      Business Excellence

3.      Service Excellence

4.      Health Science

5.      Sports Science

6.      Hospitality & Tourism

7.      Oil & Gas

8.      Manufacturing

9.      Information Technology Management

10.  Public Sector Management

Currently, we are focusing on 2 ISO certification schemes – Beauty Therapist and Aesthetician (BTaA) and Lean Six Sigma (LSS). BTaA is under the Beauty Science scope while LSS is under Business Excellence.

We are also planning to develop other schemes such as customer services and human resource and we welcome organizations who are interested to collaborate with us for this purpose.

Let me take you through briefly on our two schemes.

Beauty Therapist and Aesthetician Certification Scheme (BTaA) (Scope - Beauty Science)

The Beauty Therapist and Aesthetician Certification Scheme (BTaA) has been developed under the scope of Beauty Science by IPEC Certification Bureau (IPEC) in liaison with Industry representatives.

BTaA provides international recognition for Therapists and/ or Aesthetic Professionals using national and international standards and normative and industry references, recognized by IPEC.   

BTaA consists of comprehensive certification scopes for personnel to extend their personal competency towards the increasing demand for the Beauty Science Industry requiring the combination of Personal Qualification, Professional Recognition and Skill Competency.

Certification Scheme Objective

BTaA has been developed to meet the following key objectives:

·        Compliance to requirements of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for personnel certification 

·        To ensure that beauticians, beauty professionals, and aestheticians meet or exceed their related competencies defined by IPEC Scheme Committee against national and international guidelines

·        To assist organizations in selecting appropriately qualified beauticians, beauty professionals and aestheticians

·        To enhance the professional recognition of IPEC Certified Personnel

Application Criteria (For both BTaA and LSS Certifications – subject to IPEC’s approval)

To apply for the certification, applicants can choose 2 types of criteria – Qualification-Based (Q-Based) and Industry Experience-Based (IE-Based). The aim of these methods is to quantify the vice versa of the qualifications and years of industry experience that justify the applicant’s assessment process.

Q-Based is for applicants with recognized qualifications or evidence of professional training. Recognized Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training evidence is required for specific conditions. Applicants shall be assessed according to Qualification-Based Assessment Procedures.

IE-Based is for applicants that meet the required years of industry experience with records of achievement. Recognized Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training evidence is required. The applicant shall be assessed according to Industry Experience-Based Assessment Procedures. 

Below are the certification levels for Q-Based and IE-Based Certifications.

Lean Six Sigma Certification Scheme (LSS) (Scope - Business Excellence)

Lean and Six Sigma are great complementary approaches for driving operational excellence to achieve overall business excellence, increasing quality, shortening cycle’s times and at the same time, creating shareholder value. Lean Six Sigma takes organization to the next level of continuous improvement, one that for the first time unites speed and process quality to create value for shareholders. By applying Lean Six Sigma, organizations can revolutionize performance efficiencies in every area of the organization and achieve rapid and significant results.

Although Lean Six Sigma was originally developed for manufacturing, the same principles and techniques can be applied to any industry's business processes. Furthermore, the vast majority of Lean Six Sigma can be easily applied in services industries such as retail, healthcare, hospitality, and financial services.
