IoT and IIoT are both connects the devices to the internet and make them smarter. The difference is that IoT works to make consumers live more convenient and easier, whereas IIoT works to increase safety and efficiency for Industrial Processes.
IoT – Internet of Things
Today, the ever-available internet and innovative technologies have connected billions of things like household items, personal wearable items everyday things connected to the internet and thereby controllable from remote distances for safe and better experiences for consumers.
It is all about connecting devices that have their own unique identities like MAC address and IP Address, as well as communication network & all have connected over the Internet (GSM/LTE/WIFI) with sensors, electronics, & software which allow it to collect & exchange data over the Internet without any human interaction.

IIoT – Industrial Internet of Things
IIoT refers to the branch of IoT that is specifically engaged with the industry of manufacturing and agriculture. It is also about connecting devices and making them more available and intelligent but on a much bigger scale. The end goal in the industry is increasing speed and safety to make production facilities run more smoothly and with lower costs.
It is a network of smart devices that has its own computing capability, which is connected with multiple data nodes to collect, monitor, exchange and analyzes data for any industrial process. All Intelligent devices play a significant role in IIoT which helps to exchange valuable information for better visibility and Control also helps for basic and advanced level analysis and capture data in real-time.
IIoT is particularly on industrial applications such as Production, Quality, Safety, Energy etc. Using IIoT, business decisions can be made faster and more accurately and it also helps in transparency and control over the business process. So, companies can take essential action to make the process safer and more efficient?
We can use both IoT and IIoT for most of the Processes and use-cases. It totally depends on the requirement of users on how to use the technology and infra for their business structure.
