IOT + Tesla = LIKE

Tesla just fixed a recall by updating Software over-the-air.  See the story here from Wired.  

The old way of fixing your recalled car:

Get a letter in the mail from your dealer (hopefully). Schedule a date with dealer, take time off from work,  drop your car off at some shop, hoping you don't get ripped off or tricked into some other maintenance you don't need,  finding an alternate way to work, waiting for the fix, hoping it works, walking away asking yourself did I get ripped off.

The new way:

Get an email from your car company informing you of the recall, letting you know a software update is in the works and you should see it in x number of days.  Accept the update, car fixed, done. 

Yep that's right, Tesla did a recall and fixed it through a software upgrade.   Maybe there is something to the idea of IOT (Internet of Things).  

The old car companies that have simply come out with an electric model car, take notice. Tesla has redesigned the entire auto-ownership experience, not just come out with an electric vehicle.  

If you were one of the 350,000 (and counting) people who put $1000 deposit down on the new Tesla 3, good job.  It looks like your life just got a whole lot easier.
