IoT Tech Expo 2021: the main points, or why it's important to follow IT innovations

IoT Tech Expo 2021 took place last week in London. So what is this conference about? What are the most crucial presentations from IoT Tech Expo 2021? And why is all of this stuff with IoT innovations important?

Tech conferences are something people in the digital sphere are excited about the most. They're like presentations of early car models in the past. The IoT Tech Expo conference is definitely among the list of events that are worth knowing about. It is an enterprise technology exhibition and conference consisting of four co-located events covering IoT, AI & Big Data, Cyber Security & Cloud, and Blockchain.

It took place in London last week, on 6-7 September. Some of the major sponsors were Huawei, Dell, SoftServe, and Palantir. As you can understand, the conference explored the latest challenges, opportunities, and innovations within IoT and examined its impact across the digital industry.

Here is a brief out of the main conclusions in various sectors:

1. Smart energy challenges

The Green New Deal was taken into consideration here. Nathan's Pierce words, a program director for Sharing Cities, Greater London Authority, are expressive in this case: "We need to retrofit all buildings… The Green New Deal is a push as part of a recovery strategy following COVID… It's looking at how we can retrofit our older buildings to make them more energy efficient using smart technology, sensors, and data." He added that "the smart digital controls and IoT platforms can add an extra 10-15% energy reduction."

2. Improving efficiency with IoT

A discussion here was about a question, "How do you get IoT working for you today?" Harry Tayler, European manufacturing & supply chain lead, Palantir, pointed out the importance of improving a company's little suboptimal decision. He said that you don't have to do it on your own, but "ask yourself how IoT could help with that instead". That will help you in "your more medium term digital transformation journey", and, therefore, succeeding.

3. Bringing IoT into the digital transformation journey

The very logical point after the two previous ones. Richard Allbert, former head of digital innovation, Pirelli Deutschland, encouraged everybody struggling with IoT implementation to find a company that will help you take small but important steps.?

4. Measuring success

The three fairly equal measures here are revenue generation, cost savings, and compliance, according to Sylwia Kechiche, principal analyst, IoT, GSMA Intelligence. As we know, the Internet of Things technology can benefit from everything listed above.

I would like to add that Microsoft is calling IoT the "fourth industrial revolution", classifying it alongside mechanical production, science and mass production, and The Digital Revolution. However, the installed base of active Internet of Things connected devices is forecast to reach 30.9 billion units by 2025. Considering this, the IoT Tech Expo 2021 conference is important because it examines the main trends, provides the exchange of experience, and reminds digital leaders what they should focus on.?
