Given the initial introduction about #IoT and #Machine Automation as stacks we covered the avenues of their mutual convergence leading to realizing true potential of data in the new digital economy by talking about the Usecase on Automation of Attendance Management system. As a part of Day 6 exercise today, I am going to look at our 2nd use case and set a basic prelude in terms of how IoT and Machine Automation can be consumed in the realm of Digital Transformation as a technology enabler in the transportation Industry and Logistic warehouse as business function. The use case we are going to discuss is on the Inventory Management “Intelligent Temperature monitoring for spoilage prevention of perishable goods”
Most of the current practices in monitoring the critical business functions in a cold chain environment is a challenge. Tracking the goods in real time for example Temperature and humidity monitoring is costly, labor intensive. ,Also ensuring good are properly maintained at optimal temperature as agreed at each Supply chain management process, making the temperature and humidity of the goods very important..
Now with IoT/Edge and Machine Automation ,the entire SCM process is automation ready, and this have many benefits in term of real time monitoring of the goods, Sending status alerts when the goods go beyond predefined limits.
Over the next couple of days, i am going to dwell deep into the technical details of such a pilot solutions and elaborate on the immediate benefits it can bring on to the table. Typically we will look at tech stack and components necessary for this kind of a solution in detail how all can be integrated to give us alerts in real time in an automated Transportation environment.
