IoT in developing countries

The gift of ubiquity

Digitalization is already transforming the world, with the advent of the internet of things (IoT), we have developed the ability to collect data, connect, monitor and optimize businesses, assets and societies in a way that was never done before.

The concept is several years old, but has recently gained popularity around the world, especially among young people and entrepreneurs who are trying to help their societies with brand new solutions.

Connect devices to the internet and transmute complex assets into simple solutions for people and business is one of the most defining and transformational technologies of our time. I dare to say that it is even the biggest technological frontier of our times and we have just jumped it.

The gift of ubiquity, of the interoperation of objects with objects and, consequently, with people, organizations and governments, can contribute to the development of the food sector, governance, health care, education, cities and intelligent transportation, among others.

The advancement of the internet of things in developing countries is taking giant steps, even without updated public policies and regulatory frameworks. That means that we already have devices that are affordable, available, scalable, simply and durable in different sectors and markets.

There is still a considerable deficit in skills and knowledge on the subject in developing countries, and that institutions still have to deal with problems in terms of data management, which is an essential aspect to reap the benefits of the Internet of things.

Even with all this, an unprecedented Boom is about to happen, we have just around the corner the great technological transformation of our times. Entrepreneurs, investors, large and small companies will be participants in the new era of data.
