IOT - Connecting and Aggregating the Innovative Minds

When we connect and aggegrate our sensor data to the IOT cloud, we will be create a new Cloud service called “IOT-as-a-Service” or “Sensing-as-a-Service” meaning that we are able to provide access to any person who wishes to view or manipulate the same data. Its also possible to combine different sensor data sources and create many innovative applications such as combining between parking sensor data and public transport data, between environmental data and flood detection data, between river quality data and fertility of soil data. The idea behind of IOT is not to create silos of data and information, it will be more beneficial if we are able to correlate and derive meaningful insights with various data sources. However, it requires different kinds of skills and domain expertise to recognise the inter-relation of data. Thus, we need to connect all the innovative minds to make our world a better place to live.

9 年For example, using flood detection sensors data, we should be able to simulate flooding of area on a real map (ex: google map). For this simulation sensor's GPS location & flood level data to be collected. Suppose a city mayor wanted to plan flood protection system, such simulation would help him in infra plan of city.
It all comes down to one's perspective... There are a couple of ways things could go For example, a. One company may believe that they are "King" of figuring out X, jealously guard the perceived crown jewels while ignoring everything else. b. A second company may have the same/ similar belief and also that they can create the entire eco-system which users will crave. c. A third could realize the inherent strengths and limitations, reach out in some partnership with others to create an eco-system that is mutually beneficial. It would be great if c. were the more common outcome (in the free market). Unfortunately, human instincts and behavior favor a. and b. Only when the lessons in a. and b. are painfully experienced would a cautious and limited form of c. emerge. I argue that to ensure disparate IoT systems are connected and working together, either a government or similar body would need to provide the overarching architecture and necessary impetus. Whether the end result is desired/ correct is another issue. The above does not explicitly address personal privacy or security concerns
Interesting concept when everyone wants to be King amidst personal privacy / security concerns.

9 年I just wanted share my points on your great topic. Visualization of all sources of sensor data (i.e parking sensor data, public transport data, environmental data, flood detection data, river quality data and fertility of soil data) through Gamification with Augmented Reality would become best way to make sense out of raw data.

9 年Great topic. Unfortunately will be in Europe during August. Wish you a good talk!
