Key IoT Elements that will gain more traction
Security: Convergence of IoT & Blockchain.
IoT is an overarching concept of connected solutions; BlockChain will enable and address the security challenges- which many organizations look as a blocker for IoT adoption.
Longer Life- Low Power
With LPWAN technologies such as NB-IoT, Sigfox, Lora will get more traction in terms of availability and network deployment. However, I would expect them to show some bigger solutions deployment to prove. Each serves different business and operational need s- and I hope more organizations understand that. I would think will still require a year or two to observe which of them may take the bigger piece of the pie, or all will focus and start playing different role in the ecosystem, and enjoy creative competition.
InterOperability
As I always mention, interoperability is actually the biggest blocker in the IoT adoption. I can positively say that many organizations are realizing it, (and hope the rest do soon, if they want to survive or not want to be bought over and killed). Device A need to talk to Device B to Drive Device C. Until you say you can do that- I won’t buy a solution from you, nor will advocate your solutions.
Where are the applications?
While IoT applications are everywhere, be it a village or a city, a school or a coal mine; at the end of day the organizations and solutions providers need to understand the “value” IoT will bring into daily life or business, without disrupting their today’s process.
IoT adoption should be streamlined and smooth in a way that one doesn’t realize that there is an IoT.
IoT approach should be like a slingshot, but step-up approach; take a step back, and move four forward, and so on. (Don’t pull your sling too hard in a rush). When you take a step back, look at a bigger picture, then narrow down to a target you want to hit.
IoT is a continuous journey, you need to keep improving- refer to my earlier article
Everything else that is HOT.
Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Machine Learning, AR/VR- all these are nothing but the “enablers” of IoT solutions; Connected-X or Smart-X.
An IoT solution doesn’t have to be loaded with fancy technologies, it could be as simple as a google spreadsheet. However, as I look ahead in 2030 and 2050 (will be publishing my view in coming time), these will certainly change the way we will live, work and enjoy.
In the process, there are lot of other social challenges and needs to be addressed, at home, in office, and in school- considering many “skilled” graduates in the market every year afraid of losing their jobs before getting one. There would be a need of fundamental shift in education, a thought on what we want to teach our next generation, just writing codes, or being more analytical.
As we are accelerating, sometime getting fancy, sometime afraid, sometime excited sometime confused- we need to take this journey with aPush&aPull.

8 年correct....but considering present scenario multiple technologies will come exist depending upon application.
