iOS 15, the Most Influential OS, Takes A Bow
The most important thing in tech today is …
Apple releasing iOS 15, the latest version of an operating system that, while not the most used in the world, might be the most influential.
I say that because iOS 15 contains the App Store, which is the leading money-making platform in the global mobile ecosystem; though Google Play is on more devices, Apple makes more money.?I also say that because iOS lately is clearly influencing the direction of Apple’s MacOS for computers more than the other way around.
Why does it matter??Apple is going further in its push to let user consent drive the way parts of the operating system work — and that push could raise the bar on privacy across rival platforms.?When I downloaded iOS 15 this morning, I got lots of questions about whether I wanted Mail to anonymize my IP address, and did I want notifications for time-sensitive events? But Apple didn’t ask before switching the address bar in Safari to the bottom of the screen.
