Ionizing Radiation Safety - Danger ignored in India

General public rarely understands the danger of so called Ionizing Radiation that damage our genes and body cells and can turn them into deadly cancer.

X-ray shots are taken like camera pictures ignoring that x-rays are dangerous and they have cumulative effect, can cause abortion in pregnant ladies or can cause serious genetic disorder in unborn babies.

Children often accompany their parents to cancer hospitals where there are dangerous radioactive materials are causing higher than permissible levels of ionizing radiation background. This forces greater radiation burden in the life of children as they get exposed from their very early age. While radiation worker are permitted to high radiation risk, general public must be kept at 1/30th level of the same radiation exposure.

There are million x-ray machine and radiation sources in India but most of them not certified for use the way they are used and they do cause serious problems to general public safety. We must educate our x-ray clinic operators, cancer hospitals and research organizations using radioactivity or x-rays.
