ION API integration with external private API's

This week I have been working on some integrations between Cloud Suite Distribution and an external application. Part of the integration needs to be done using Infor ION API’s.? ION API integration with external systems is pretty much straightforward when it comes to public API’s.

The difference we had in this integration was that, particular API was an internal/private API that was sitting behind the customers VPN . ?This means there is no public address available for the API.

This is where enable enterprise connector setting in ION API?comes into play. Once you enable this setting, ?API calls are routed through enterprise connector. Since EC server sits behind the VPN , now you can make API calls to private API’s from Cloud Suite similar to those public API’s.

This is a pretty useful gem that goes unnoticed most of the time. ??
