Yesterday I had the thrill of hosting the closing session of the annual COSA (Clinical Oncology Society of Australia) conference. In place of the traditional Presidential Lecture I interviewed musician, raconteur and prostate cancer survivor Kirk Pengilly.
Along with some great stories about life on the musical road (he's not a massive fan of Adam Ant!) and a couple of epic INXS classics on guitar to close out the show, Kirk spoke honestly and rawly about his own battle with prostate cancer.
From the way he found out about his condition, to the decision to go public and his subsequent patronage of Movember, it was fascinating stuff.
And when i pointed out that he should have been Movember patron simply because of his distinguished history of wearing awesome Mo's, he agreed wholeheartedly.
