Invite for World Elephant Day

Invite for World Elephant Day

Dear All,

Greetings from CMS VATAVARAN Environment & Wildlife Film Festival and Forum and TRAFFIC India, a programme division of WWF-India and the country office of the global wildlife trade monitoring network, TRAFFIC.

I have the pleasure to inform you that the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), in collaboration with CMS VATAVARAN, WWF-TRAFFIC and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) is going to organise the World Elephant Day on 12th August 2016 in order to raise awareness for elephant conservation in India and globally.

This is a pleasure to invite you and your students to attend a series of programmes, such as forming a human chain of an elephant, slogan competition, painting competition, a quiz contest, and participating in a film show featuring highly acclaimed films on elephant from 7.30 AM-11.30 AM on 12 August 2016 at Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, Teen Murti House, New Delhi 110011.

The World Elephant Day was launched on 12 August 2012 globally to mobilise attention and support conservation of Asian and African elephants. The elephant is loved, revered and respected by people across India, yet the future of the species is threatened by the escalation of poaching, habitat loss, human-elephant conflict and mistreatment of elephants in captivity. Working towards better protection for wild elephants, improving enforcement policies to prevent the illegal poaching and trade of ivory, and conserving elephant habitats, are imperative for saving the elephant. For the first time this year, India will be launching this day in our country.

On the World Elephant Day 2016, we request you to pledge your support for elephant conservation in India. Please join us along with your students for the programme.   Please find invitation in attachment.

Note: Limited seats available on first come first serve basis… (Please confirm on 9899046592 or [email protected] )
