Invitation to Opprtunity: If you received it from me...

[UPDATE] I did, indeed, cancel this service right after posting this and I reported them as well. Hopefully, this has stopped the intrusion on you and will help put an end to their abhorrent business practices.

I felt the need to address this in the most public manner I know, so I chose to post about it.

If you received an invitation FROM ME to take a look at Opprtunity, please accept my apologies for any intrusion it may be in your Inbox.

The invitation was sent to me from a trusted source and when I checked it out, I chose to engage in the Free Trial. When I was asked to upload my contacts, I believed it was loading them as a sort of "address book" and would allow me to sort them and streamline some of my business processes.  But..

I did NOT know Opprtunity automatically
sent invites out to all my contacts!!!
And I'm NOT happy about it.

If you know me or have done business with me, you know I don't believe in "blanket" emails for any reason unless there is a group of people who have opted & agreed to receive information from me relevant to a specific topic we're talking about together. I don't believe in random invitations unless I truly believe it could be of value to the person I'm inviting.
This "automatic" invite to everyone of my contacts is a huge point of contention with Opprtunity and has me seriously evaluating if I even want to use a software platform that pulls such tactics!!

As for the software itself, it is purported to be a way to receive and manage "leads" of people who are looking for the very thing(s) you offer. While the logo cleverly appears to be like that of LinkedIn, I have found NO EVIDENCE that it is indeed connected to LinkedIn. Another disappointment for me, as it did not state that it was separately owned in the initial invitation and I thought it to be an add-on service FROM LinkedIn. 

For those who have asked me directly, I’ve been playing with it for about a month.  I did purchase the upgrade but haven’t seen much result yet. Unless I can see some reason that it benefits my business, my clients' business and the business of those in my circles over the next 45 days, I will be discontinuing the service. If I find value in using it, I'll  be happy to share that with anyone who has asked me.

If, upon checking it out for yourself, you see value in it for your business, of course, try it out - and please share  your feedback with me.  With all the varied perspectives we collectively have, it's possibly you may see something I've yet to see. I love learning from my peers and colleagues.
