Investments in Mutual Funds as a % of my total investment wallet – a self check
Friends we all know that mutual funds today are the best source of investment s for the following reasons.
? Diversification
? Transparency
? Liquidity
? Tax Efficient
? Better Returns
? Safety
? Handled by experts in the field.
Inspite of all these reasons pl check your total investment vallet which may include Post Office,Bank FD,Real estate,Gold,Insurance ,Direct Equity.
Now pl check what is the % of mutual funds to this total investment.
Pl also check which product has given you better returns and compare it with mutual funds on the same time frame.
e.g If you check real estate bought in year 2000 then pl also see the NAV of the corresponding mutual fund of the same period , similarly for all asset classes.
If you find that mutual funds have given better returns than other investment products shoudnt you be allocating more from the investment wallet to mutual funds is a question which one needs to ask him or herself?
The most important point which I wish to make here is
“The best return yielding product should have the highest weightage in your portfolio within the total asset allocation so as to increase the overall return of your portfolio”.
This will create wealth.
