Investment in the rail infrastructure in the US opens up lots of new potential opportunities

Having recently attended Smart Transit Los Angeles at the end of October, which was looking at how digitalization and technology is revolutionizing transit in the US, it was clear that rail is the next big area for infrastructure investment in the US. With congestion at an all time high, causing serious problems with pollution, the US authorities need to provide an alternative solution to cars.
The event hosted a range of high profile speakers from across Light Rail including Joshua Schank, Chief Innovation Officer at LA Metro and Holly Reed, Managing Director of External Affairs at Texas Central Railway. Both of these speakers talked about their light rail solutions that will reduce reliance on cars.
What was really interesting was the lack of emphasis on Competence Management. Compliance based assessments are currently being used, however as the industry expands, so does the requirement for developmental competence management.
