Investment options for you
Do you feel that no-one listens to what you actually need when you are investing personally?
Most people tell me that when they look at different options, they are offered what the investment company wants not what you want.
Well there is a way to change that trend. When you are reviewing yours and your relatives financial futures it is best to write a list of the most important things to you. This then takes away that part of the decision making on the investments from the companies and places it right back in your hands where it should be.
There are many factors you need to consider which should be important for you:
- How long do you want to invest for (do you have future specific dates you are saving towards)
- How much money do you wish to invest (it is important to not invest all your liquid capital (either from earnings or from capital you have saved)). You should always keep 3-6 months of your monthly expenditure aside in case of any emergencies.
- What are your thoughts on risk factors (this will determine what to invest into) (Low risk like bonds, medium risk like capital protected term investments, commodities, FX, or high risk like stock market, equities etc)
- Where you would be living when your investments mature (so you can work out what buying power you will have if there is a change of currency involved).
- What are your nationalities (sometimes with people who have more than 1 nationality, there could be significant tax advantages by using a specific passport, depending on where you are investing)
- Flexibility, there are some investments that allow you more flexibility than others (this should be reviewed in case your circumstances change in the future for the better of worse)
These are just some of the things that should be reviewed and taken into consideration prior to making any investment decisions for yours and your families futures.
