An Investment Opportunity in Golf. Are tee heights important…???
Here is a small excerpt from something written about Tiger and tee heights which should make you think about what tee height you set for your driver or for that matter for your woods, hybrids or even your irons.
And so, just as club selection becomes a carefully considered part of Tiger's pre-shot checklist, so does tee selection. Turns out, he uses two of them, a standard 2.1 inch tee and a longer 3.3 inch. ***But then, on the 18th hole, the long tee came back out. Tiger pegged it high and sent a high draw down the right side. By using the longer tee, Tiger is trying to get his driver "a little higher" into the air, LaCava says. It also allows him to hit the ball slightly higher on the clubface, which in turn reduces spin and helps him hit the ball longer. So when he reaches for the long tee, that's a subtle cue that Tiger is reaching for a little extra, so get excited***
For Tiger 'that' adjustment is something he practices and as a professional tour player uses it to help him gain any advantage he can from what he does BUT…. how can we as amateurs get that help with our tee heights a lot more simply…..... actually, we can.
It is by using a small accessory called the T-Set
(See photo – a painted 3D printed prototype showing a 82mm (3.3 inch) tee in the 50mm slot plus showing a hidden divot tool and some branding on one side)
The T-Set has 9 height settings. Three, four or five of these height settings will be used by most golfers and would depend on what suits your game and/or your clubs.
Most 460cc drivers are going to use two of those settings, the 45mm and 50mm settings which is similar to what Tiger does with those two different tees, one is for accuracy and the other for longer drives (see image for ‘that’ height difference - thanks Robert Cotter)
Smaller drivers, woods and hybrids will use the 40, 35, 30, 25 and the 20mm height settings (again depending on your clubs) and the 15 and 10mm settings would be used for irons. Here many will argue that when hitting irons you do it off the deck but as one well known golf coach said ‘Any time you can use a tee…. use it, as it gives you the advantage of a clean strike with no grass or dirt between your clubface and the ball’.
Now that sounds like pretty good advice. Adjusting how and how far you hit your tee shot using a tee will become easier with practice and use and overall will be more consistent and if more consistent will mean better accuracy and generally more distance. Just what the doctor ordered, right???
So, is your tee height important?
Yes it is for all the above reasons and more because if you know that you are going to get the best from your drive, you are going to be a lot more comfortable over the ball.... the more comfortable you feel the easier your swing.... the better your performance will be.

So, who needs a T-Set..? All golfers should be using one although many won’t for different reasons but for a lot of the guys it would be what we call the ‘testosterone’ reason…. I’m a man and don’t need help from any accessory to set up my tee.
If though you are a golfer who would like to bring down your handicap numbers…. any and all help should be used…. similar to Tiger using those two different height tees right, it just makes good sense!!!
For the usage of those height settings, for the hidden divot tool and mainly for the branding opportunity the T-Set allows on two sides, the T-Set is a ‘must have’ for any golf event company, golf event or outing and at the price point for them is wholly acceptable when buying 100 units or more per event…. a lot more bang for your sponsorship buck!!!
As a business venture this also makes great sense and gives the investor a great ROI (return of investment) which continues giving long after you have your investment covered when we reach 18,000 units sold (possibly less with retail sales added which brings in a better price per unit). With about a million + events a year worldwide this is going to be a solid investment (over 500,000+ events per year just in the USA).
We require an investment of $45,000 for a 45% share in T-Set. Want more information contact me at [email protected] or phone me at 027 82?082 7711 (South Africa)
If 2 or 3 friends would like to invest that amount together, be my guest and the 45% will be allocated accordingly.
My name is Graham Riley and the owner and patent holder of the T-Set which will be sold from an online business Strike Line Golf
My other products are the Shady and Strike Line.
I live in Amanzimtoti on the South coast of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa for the present but would relocate to Somerset West in the Cape as that is where my moulders / injection moulders are that I have used over the years.
Hope you will join me in this venture.
