Welcome to The Road to Sustainability Weekly Reviews—Sustainability approaches and strategies, week 39 of 2022.
Dear friends and colleagues,
In this special series, I explore three meaningful axes in the investment decision-making process toward sustainability.
We must reinforce the financial spectrum of possibilities to accelerate the transition to a sustainable economy. It requires first reaching environmental stability for sustainable growth, then designing sustainability and inclusion implementation to reshape industries and have companies using forward-looking assessments.
My purpose here is to address some of these problems by providing tips and lessons learned from my team's experience and observations made while facilitating or mentoring other process improvement groups.
I imagine it as an infinite loop. We will unpack the three axes following ten common process improvement mistakes and how to avoid them. Investment and decision-making, the loop series:

3. Investment and decision-making, the loop series: fix the process, not the problem, part 1
A recent mission led my team and me to deal with systems widely considered inefficient and difficult to work with. The processes involved in the organization’s transformation toward the implementation of sustainability practices were frustrating, cumbersome, costly, and antithetical to their stated objectives.?
Those processes had been implemented to address particular issues, which exacerbated the problems.?
Before this department invested in yet another system, an executive of the unit reached out to me to better understand their processes and how they could be improved to make the new system implementation successful.

→ How has the pandemic benefited cooperation and raising awareness, despite the overwhelming amount of conversations on social networks? What can we do more?
→ What do we need to overcome disparities? The gap between corporations and the public, particularly with the young generations.
→ The approach to sustainability has become more professional during the pandemic, impacting and understanding externalities, yes, but what resources are missing?
→ Are companies prepared to address issues as they are on different journeys and the planet is changing?
→ How can we define the impact created by corporations on the environment? What type of framework and playbook can companies rely on? What is the value proposition?
