Issue 8: Investment Rants With The Viral Author

Let me start by bragging, that picture right there is the first time I was taking a photograph with an "oyinbo" man (white man).

I don't think white people are actually special (especially more than blacks,I mean we were all equally made by God) and if you have been on a personal with me, one of the things I'm a little not all loud after is all this abroad migration of a thing. However, before you assume, I am open to and for opportunities in the abroad ranging from internship, paid seminars, speaking engagements, even if you're in need of any of my services and you're ready to host me for a period of time, please dial my line -- I'm patiently waiting in my DMs, I mean, The Viral Author is a global brand, innit?

Sorry for the digression. Today, if you're Nigerian this article was written late at night, I'll be showing you an underrated form of investment. It took feedback from my inner squads to even see it.

Going back to where I started from, those two white men up there are not just white men or white Arabs, or Indians or wherever they're from. The first guy is the TP Global FX Dubai manager, Vignesh Sundar. The second is, the CEO himself, Nitish Sharmah. Let me save the details for later (you can check up TP Global FX and get the same euphoria I had when I took that picture). And the third man is obviously Nigerian and is the country manager for the company here, Chuks Obiri. I worked with these great people, or shall I say for them?

The point is, Vignesh introduced me to his boss, Nitish, and was like, "this is Denu, one of the good influencers on LinkedIn." Now, I should likely come back to this.

Let me introduce you to a couple unique parts of me, or more, to drive home my point.

Investor Denu, The Viral Author

This is the guy you have come to know because of LinkedIn. I started building this avatar three years ago. So, it's hard-work you're seeing and it's not been easy.

This guy is a twenty year old massive guy that makes big moves. He dares anything. He is on suits and doesn't care what you think. He is also self-driven, motivated and very busy. He's a CEO and manages a number of companies effectively. Another thing about him is that he's everywhere.

The way he walks, it looks like he's got his life at the fold of his hands and, of course, he's got them just there.

Denu is a 20 year old fearless business executive that daily interacts, and fearlessly communicate with top executives in the business world. He's like the next rated silicon billionaire that everyone wants to do business with.

And, that is beautiful. Yes?

Hold on, let me briefly introduce you to Favour.

Favour

Then, there is Favour.

Favour is that emotional side of me. Sometimes, most times, really lazy at life. He is not an action taker like Denu. Some of you will have encountered this guy. He is a lover. Well, Denu is also a lover, but Favour is very emotional with his love. Darn!

Actually, this discussion isn't about Favour, but it is important to share for record purpose and to drive home today's rant. So, let's talk about Feranmi.

Feranmi

Hahahaha.

Feranmi is this guy. Well, maybe for now. When I move to my own apartment I'll be more of Denu prolly.

Feranmi is that very weird guy that would make you laugh in wonder at home. He runs errands, like the basest of chores around the house. Currently, this Feranmi stays in his grandfather's house and sometimes come back after a long and stressful day at work to a mountain of plates at the kitchen. Though firstborn from the nuclear family and a graduate of Architecture, this guy here is the lastborn of grandpa's house.

Feranmi can be so weird. Sometimes, he's comfortable with sitting on the kitchen floor away from the noise of the rooms or the family lounge. Another time, he's on earpods shaking vigorously to something hyper. Feranmi can be weird and, yes, he has a soft baby voice that can be mistaken for cowardice unlike the well-pruned Denu.

Now, let's marry all of these confusion together.

What is positioning?

If you have ten billionaires as friends, you're the eleventh; you're the eleventh millionaire when you are surrounded by ten millionaire friends. Life works in a cartel, circle, format. You want to be among the wealthy, you have to play their games and be welcomed at their table.

Now, this was a strategy I shared with members of my money circle, DMC, some weeks back. There are two people who get deals, sorry I meant money, from the wealthy -- the poor and members of their circle.

The poor get money from the wealthy out of self-pity and concern, usually such money is not long-term; because it was coming out of a beggarly foundation -- the poor unfortunate man gets the favour of the rich because he is poor and helpless. The best the rich man would do is to help him out of his penury but history is replete with a lot of poor persons who were so favoured but could not sustain the riches that was given them because they had not consciously brought themselves, by training or practice, to transact in the capacity of the wealthy.

Here's where positioning is key and a cogent investment principle.

Positioning, by my definition, is that thing that bridges the gap between your present, actual reality and the life of your dreams. It is living as though you were in the fulfilment of your dreams. Playing the cards of success as a failure. Find the adjectives, find the words!

Positioning has to do with skills, and smarts. Positioning is a type of investment that helps a poor man get into the circle of the rich and wealthy such that he becomes a part of their circle and begin to transact business in their capacity.

Positioning involves everything that has to do with becoming friends with people who are living your dreams. And, yes, you won't know there's a lot of money on the table if you're not sitting on it. A poor man does not sit on the table, money is thrown at him as he bows before the rich but the poor man who, having branded himself up and pruned his skills, gets to sit at that table as a companion of the rich, will share in the wealth displayed.

That's positioning!

It doesn't matter what your current reality is, you may be ridiculed at home and be jeered and mocked at. You may be made fun of, you may run errand and odd chores. You may have to wash plates at home. You know you are building something. You don't want all of that to affect your investment, your positioning. You have to live up to your dreams and be a part of the big table.

And, you only, have the capacity to reveal who you were meant to be.

One of such ways to keep your positioning game on is investing in strategic pictures at choice locations -- don't joke with it!

Here's where I'll drop my pen on today's rant, I hope you learnt something new?

By the way, I can't wait to have you join other investors and great business leaders at this financial revival happening next month, Start Your Purse to Fattening. Click on the photo to begin your registration, it's a revival! I can't wait to be revive and, sure, you'll be getting good pictures!
