  • MS’ James Gorman views the market for dealmaking as “very subdued,” the CEO told analysts in a conference call this week after reporting first-quarter results. He and his rivals said investment banking fees have dropped about 20% or more from a year earlier. (Bloomberg )
  • RBC Cuts More Than a Dozen in US Investment Bank After Recent Layoffs (RBC )
  • Consulting giants McKinsey & Co. and Bain & Co. are delaying start dates for new M.B.A. hires, or in some cases paying them thousands of dollars to put off starting their jobs (WSJ )
  • Rather than impede M&A activity, several of today's current events are driving new trends in the industry.   • JPMorgan Hires Deutsche Bank’s Nick Richitt for Health-Care Deals (Bloomberg )
  • Solomon Partners Launches Technology Investment Banking Group With Hiring of Joseph Watson from Houlihan Lokey (Global Newswire )
  • Oppenheimer Hires Michael Cella as U.S. Head of Consumer from Cowen (Yahoo )
  • Guggenheim lures Greenhill's dealmakers to expand into Europe. The Wall Street bank has snapped up Greenhill & Co.'s telecoms and digital infrastructure team, led by Jonathan Dann and Pieter-Jan Bouten, the sources said on condition of anonymity. Investment bankers Charlie Evans and Achille Del Pizzo will also move to Guggenheim, where the team will begin in May (Yahoo )
  • Paul Haigney Joins Guggenheim Securities’ Technology Investment Banking Practice from Lazard (Yahoo )
  • Erik Marth has joined Mizuho from Liontree to cover software.
  • Moelis Hires Team of Senior SVB Securities Technology Bankers (Moelis )
  • Raymond James may further grow its healthcare investment banking group after bringing on board a trio of bankers from Fifth Third Securities Inc.’s Coker Capital Securities LLC. The firm may add bankers on the public equity side, focusing on areas including biotech and medical technology. (The Deal )

The ideal candidate will be an Analyst to Associate promote, no MBA Associates (those without an Analyst background). Candidates with middle market sell-side experience preferred.
