It’s been a weird time for investors. There have been layoffs, bank turmoil and persistent concerns that the US will get hit with a recession. Even so, stocks have rallied.

Bloomberg’s Claire Ballentine and her colleagues recently spoke to five investment experts about where they see opportunities today. The answers ranged from India and cybersecurity to Bitcoin and the good old 60/40, with a global bent.

India also came up when they recently spoke to veteran emerging markets fund manager Mark Mobius, who pointed out the economy there is growing faster than in China.??

If nothing else, the last few months have been a painful reminder of why it’s a bad idea to time the market. At the same time that money was moving into cash, with investors concerned about the economic headwinds and market turbulence, the S&P 500 has gained more than 20% since October.

A narrow slice of stocks — think Microsoft and Nvidia — are fueling the rally, thanks to the frenzy around artificial intelligence.

Some are expecting a pullback soon, while others say cash on the sidelines could push the market even higher. It all underscores the conflicting signals swirling around right now.
